Department of Advanced Material Technologies (K26W03D05)

Surface technologies

The Surface Technology team in its current composition consists of employees derived from the Department of Surface Engineering, Catalysis and Corrosion, part of the former Institute of Inorganic Technology and Mineral Fertilizers. The Department was headed for many years by Prof. Bogdan Szczygiel, DSc., and since 2021 the work of the team has been headed by Juliusz Winiarski, DSc., Prof. of the university.

Sp. k., CANPACK S.A., Koelner/Rawlplug S.A. and SurTec Polska Sp. z o.o.. It carries out implementation doctorates in the field of technology of manufacturing protective coatings on aluminum and zinc alloys. The team's apparatus facilities include, among others: an SEM electron microscope with EDS and EBSD detectors and a vacuum sputtering machine, an XPS spectrometer, a gas chromatograph and a GC-MS system; a contact profilometer, a micro-combi-tester, a wide range of potentiostats, digital and metallographic microscopes, equipment for metallographic preparation, coating testing and other basic laboratory apparatus. Thanks to its experience and extensive cooperation, both with research units and industrial plants, the team is able to take an interdisciplinary approach to research problems.
